{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-4-4-108","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 4-4-108","heading":"Packaging for small producer -- Display in grocery store.","body":"(1) A small producer shall package the small producer's eggs in clean packaging that bears a label with the following information:\n(a) the common name of the food, \"eggs\";\n(b) the quantity or number of eggs;\n(c) the name and address of the small producer;\n(d) the statement \"Keep Refrigerated\"; and\n(e) the statement \"SAFE HANDLING INSTRUCTIONS: To prevent illness from bacteria: Keep eggs refrigerated, cook eggs until yolks are firm, and cook foods containing eggs thoroughly.\"\n(2)\n(a) A small producer shall label the small producer's eggs that are sold in a grocery store with a statement that the eggs:\n(i) are exempt from 21 C.F.R. Chapter 1, Part 118, Production, Storage, and Transportation of Shell Eggs; and\n(ii) are not from an inspected source.\n(b) The requirements described in Subsection (2)(a) are in addition to the labeling requirements described in Subsection (1).\n(3)\n(a) A small producer may state a \"pull date\" or \"best by\" date.\n(b) The \"pull date\" or \"best by\" date may be hand written on the end of the packaging or in a conspicuous location that is clearly discernible.\n(c) A \"pull date\" or \"best by\" date shall first show the month then the day of the month.\n(d) A recommended \"pull date\" or \"best by\" date is 30 days after production, but the date may not exceed 45 days after production.\n(4) If the eggs of a small producer are ungraded and not weighed, the packaging for the eggs may not be labeled with a grade or size.\n(5) Any egg produced by a small egg producer and sold in a grocery store shall be displayed separately in the grocery store from eggs not from a small producer.","path":["Title 4 Utah Agricultural Code","Chapter 4-4 Eggs"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title4/Chapter4/4-4-S108.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"2c7df92b4ba3892730b74c78ea77f340f963036fe314607a294108973f99da47","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-4-4-107","next":"us-ut/utah-code-4-4a-102"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
