{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-40-13-204","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 40-13-204","heading":"Forfeiture of surety.","body":"(1) Subsection (2) applies if the board determines that an operator has neglected, failed, or refused to:\n(a) plug and abandon a brine well;\n(b) close any surface impoundment;\n(c) repair a brine well leaking or causing waste; or\n(d) maintain and reclaim a site.\n(2) A person who violates Subsection (1) shall forfeit from the person's surety or shall pay to this state a sum equal to the cost of:\n(a) plugging a brine well;\n(b) closure of the surface impoundment;\n(c) repair of the brine well leaking or causing waste; or\n(d) reclamation of the site.","path":["Title 40 Mines and Mining","Chapter 40-13 Brine Conservation Act","Part 40-13-2 Administration and Enforcement"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title40/Chapter13/40-13-S204.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"d06959f195b5a6e2d4a683cf3194e564b1a332d1bb7e7e0a9c70fdb838eda2cf","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-40-13-203","next":"us-ut/utah-code-40-13-205"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
