{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-40-2-204","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 40-2-204","heading":"Coal Miner Certification Panel created -- Duties.","body":"(1) There is created within the office the \"Coal Miner Certification Panel.\"\n(2) The panel consists of:\n(a) the commissioner or the commissioner's designee; and\n(b) at least eight other members appointed by the commissioner with equal representation and participation from:\n(i) management of coal mine operations; and\n(ii) hourly coal mining employees.\n(3) A member appointed by the commissioner shall:\n(a) have at least five years' experience in coal mining in this state;\n(b) administer the certification test to an applicant referred to in Section 40-2-402;\n(c) consult with the commission about applicant qualifications specified in Section 40-2-402;\n(d) meet when directed by the commissioner or the commissioner's designee; and\n(e) hold office at the pleasure of the commissioner.\n(4) A member may not receive compensation or benefits for the member's service, but may receive per diem and travel expenses in accordance with:\n(a) Section 63A-3-106;\n(b) Section 63A-3-107; and\n(c) rules made by the Division of Finance pursuant to Sections 63A-3-106 and 63A-3-107.","path":["Title 40 Mines and Mining","Chapter 40-2 Coal Mine Safety Act","Part 40-2-2 Utah Office of Coal Mine Safety"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title40/Chapter2/40-2-S204.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"754ad6c7ac29a9e0b671809c5d2fb5e02af18348b2abfaaf5fb188b970a62143","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-40-2-203","next":"us-ut/utah-code-40-2-205"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
