{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-41-1a-1303.5","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 41-1a-1303.5","heading":"Driving without registration or certificate of title -- Class C misdemeanor.","body":"(1)\n(a) A violation of Subsection 41-1a-202(3), related to registration of vehicles after establishing residency, is a class C misdemeanor and, except as provided in Subsection (1)(b), has a minimum fine of $1,000.\n(b) A court may not dismiss an action brought for a violation of Subsection 41-1a-202(3) merely because the defendant has obtained the appropriate registration subsequent to violating the section. The court may, however, reduce the fine to $200 if the violator presents evidence at the time of the hearing that:\n(i) the vehicle is currently registered properly; and\n(ii) the violation has not existed for more than one year.\n(2) A court may require proof of proper motor vehicle registration as part of any sentence imposed under this section.","path":["Title 41 Motor Vehicles","Chapter 41-1a Motor Vehicle Act","Part 41-1a-13 Offenses and Penalties"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title41/Chapter1a/41-1a-S1303.5.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"698a2f7671e5760440b11a68077ae9c4d4e2f49178d4cbd682b46fd0c12f2404","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-41-1a-1303","next":"us-ut/utah-code-41-1a-1304"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
