{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-41-1a-1315","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 41-1a-1315","heading":"Third degree felony -- False evidences of title and registration.","body":"It is a third degree felony for a person with respect to a motor vehicle, trailer, or semitrailer to:\n(1) fraudulently use a false or fictitious name in an application for registration, a certificate of title, or for a duplicate certificate of title;\n(2) knowingly make a false statement or knowingly conceal a material fact in an application under this chapter;\n(3) otherwise commit a fraud in an application under this chapter;\n(4) alter with fraudulent intent a certificate of title, registration card, license plate, or permit issued by the division;\n(5) forge or counterfeit a document or license plate purporting to have been issued by the division;\n(6) alter, falsify, or forge an assignment upon a certificate of title;\n(7) hold or use a document or license plate under this chapter knowing it has been altered, forged, or falsified; or\n(8) file an application for a certificate of title providing false lien information, when the person named on the application as lienholder does not hold a valid security interest.","path":["Title 41 Motor Vehicles","Chapter 41-1a Motor Vehicle Act","Part 41-1a-13 Offenses and Penalties"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title41/Chapter1a/41-1a-S1315.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"b791d83c4bfb2ab4447b7f0641d364097860b5d5879b157fb3d73810abd24fb5","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-41-1a-1314","next":"us-ut/utah-code-41-1a-1316"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
