{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-41-1a-505","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 41-1a-505","heading":"Exceptions to title requirements for vessels and outboard motors.","body":"(1) Each vessel or outboard motor, identified by the manufacturer as a 1985 year model or newer, operated on the waters of this state is subject to the title provisions of this part except:\n(a) vessels that have valid marine documents issued by the United States Coast Guard;\n(b) canoes;\n(c) inflatable vessels powered by an outboard motor with a manufacturer's listed horsepower of 25 or less;\n(d) outboard motors with a manufacturer's listed horsepower of 25 or less;\n(e) vessels and outboard motors owned and operated by nonresidents of the state;\n(f) vessels or outboard motors owned and operated by the federal government; or\n(g) vessels exempt from registration under Section 73-18-9.\n(2) The division may not provide a title on vessels and outboard motors identified by the manufacturer as a 1984 year model or older.","path":["Title 41 Motor Vehicles","Chapter 41-1a Motor Vehicle Act","Part 41-1a-5 Titling Requirement"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title41/Chapter1a/41-1a-S505.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"e3614992b40589c907c21a7e791e4d961f0aaa1c535241f961e0f6b4a2bdbca2","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-41-1a-504","next":"us-ut/utah-code-41-1a-506"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
