{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-41-1a-608","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 41-1a-608","heading":"Release by lienholder to owner.","body":"(1) A person holding a lien or encumbrance as shown upon a certificate of title upon a vehicle or vessel may release the lien or encumbrance or assign the person's interest to the owner without affecting the registration of the vehicle or vessel.\n(2) The division shall issue a new certificate of title without a lien previously recorded upon receiving:\n(a) a certificate of title:\n(i) upon which a lienholder has released or assigned the lienholder's interest to the owner; or\n(ii) not so endorsed but accompanied by a legal release from a lienholder of the lienholder's interest in or to a vehicle, vessel, or outboard motor;\n(b) an application properly completed; and\n(c) the proper fee.","path":["Title 41 Motor Vehicles","Chapter 41-1a Motor Vehicle Act","Part 41-1a-6 Liens and Security Interests"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title41/Chapter1a/41-1a-S608.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"126cec7d27c58ef30ab8598426b69675b9f4a3a66f99b8c5106b7a3d470f41d0","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-41-1a-607","next":"us-ut/utah-code-41-1a-609"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
