{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-41-26-104","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 41-26-104","heading":"Licensing -- Responsibility for compliant operation of ADS-equipped vehicles.","body":"For the purpose of assessing compliance with applicable traffic or motor vehicle laws:\n(1)\n(a) When an ADS is operating a motor vehicle, the ADS is the operator, and shall satisfy electronically all physical acts required by a conventional driver in operation of the vehicle.\n(b) The ADS is responsible for the compliant operation of the vehicle and is not required to be licensed to operate the vehicle.\n(2)\n(a) If a vehicle with an engaged level three ADS issues a request to intervene, the ADS is responsible for the compliant operation of the vehicle until disengagement of the ADS.\n(b) If a vehicle with an engaged level four or five ADS issues a request to intervene, the ADS is responsible for the compliant operation of the vehicle until or unless a human user begins to operate the vehicle.\n(3) The ADS is responsible for compliant operation of an ADS-equipped vehicle when the ADS is engaged.","path":["Title 41 Motor Vehicles","Chapter 41-26 Autonomous Vehicles"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title41/Chapter26/41-26-S104.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"85e18657e7f8a4ae31eb52e03e7c69df30ad3b08a47c65a31db64e7cc4691148","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-41-26-103","next":"us-ut/utah-code-41-26-105"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
