{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-41-3-701","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 41-3-701","heading":"Violations as misdemeanors.","body":"(1) Except as otherwise provided in this chapter, any person who violates this chapter is guilty of a class B misdemeanor.\n(2)\n(a)\n(i) Except as provided in Subsection (2)(a)(ii), a person who violates Section 41-3-201 is guilty of a class A misdemeanor.\n(ii) A person who violates the requirement to title a vehicle with a salvage certificate within seven days of purchasing the vehicle at a motor vehicle auction under Subsection 41-3-201(3)(e) is guilty of a class C misdemeanor.\n(b) Once a person has met the criteria for the offense of acting as a dealer without a license, each additional motor vehicle the person sells, displays for sale, offers for sale or exchange, or leases in that 12-month period without becoming licensed under Section 41-3-202 is a separate violation.\n(3) A person who violates Section 41-3-301 10 or more times is guilty of a class A misdemeanor, unless the selling dealer complies with the requirements of Section 41-3-403.\n(4) A person who violates Section 41-3-207.5 is guilty of a class A misdemeanor.","path":["Title 41 Motor Vehicles","Chapter 41-3 Motor Vehicle Business Regulation Act","Part 41-3-7 Penalties"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title41/Chapter3/41-3-S701.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"d2be264eea70df540ca4a40cbdee3d79900f4d693901cef4ed3ce41ef1453a40","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-41-3-604","next":"us-ut/utah-code-41-3-702"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
