{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-41-6a-1011","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 41-6a-1011","heading":"Pedestrian vehicles.","body":"(1) As used in this section:\n(a)\n(i) \"Pedestrian vehicle\" means a self-propelled conveyance designed, manufactured, and intended for the exclusive use of a person with a physical disability.\n(ii) A \"pedestrian vehicle\" may not:\n(A) exceed 48 inches in width;\n(B) have an engine or motor with more than 300 cubic centimeters displacement or with more than 12 brake horsepower; and\n(C) be capable of developing a speed in excess of 30 miles per hour.\n(b) \"Physical disability\" means any bodily impairment which precludes a person from walking or otherwise moving about as a pedestrian.\n(2) A pedestrian vehicle operated by a person with a physical disability is exempt from vehicle registration, inspection, and operator license requirements.\n(3)\n(a) A person with a physical disability may operate a pedestrian vehicle with a motor of not more than .5 brake horsepower capable of developing a speed of not more than eight miles per hour:\n(i) on the sidewalk; and\n(ii) in all places where pedestrians are allowed.\n(b) A permit, license, registration, authority, application, or restriction may not be required or imposed on a person with a physical disability who operates a pedestrian vehicle under this Subsection (3).\n(c) The provisions of this Subsection (3) supercede the provision of Subsection (2).","path":["Title 41 Motor Vehicles","Chapter 41-6a Traffic Code","Part 41-6a-10 Pedestrians' Rights and Duties"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title41/Chapter6a/41-6a-S1011.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"b1e4df2068150c6d5dda72d66a6206a5b967f62fcf4bd15c859a1f78c8575e27","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-41-6a-1010","next":"us-ut/utah-code-41-6a-1101"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
