{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-41-6a-1404","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 41-6a-1404","heading":"Stopping or parking on roadway outside business or residential district.","body":"(1) Outside a business or residence district, a person may not stop, park, or leave standing a vehicle, whether attended or unattended, on the roadway when it is practical to stop, park, or leave the vehicle off the roadway.\n(2) A person who stops, parks, or leaves a vehicle standing on a roadway shall:\n(a) leave an unobstructed width of the highway opposite the vehicle for the free passage of other vehicles; and\n(b) leave the vehicle so that other vehicle operators have a clear view of the stopped vehicle from a distance of 200 feet in each direction on the roadway.\n(3) This section and Sections 41-6a-1401 and 41-6a-1402 do not apply to the operator of a vehicle if the vehicle becomes disabled while on the paved or main traveled portion of a roadway in a manner and to the extent that it is impossible to avoid stopping and temporarily leaving the disabled vehicle on the paved or main traveled portion of the roadway.\n(4) A violation of this section is an infraction.","path":["Title 41 Motor Vehicles","Chapter 41-6a Traffic Code","Part 41-6a-14 Stopping, Standing, and Parking"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title41/Chapter6a/41-6a-S1404.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"964ad1d1bfd6556b2fc49390510a1aba5387b8e3d8288fb5286a67d3f3ee4beb","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-41-6a-1403","next":"us-ut/utah-code-41-6a-1405"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
