{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-41-6a-1407","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 41-6a-1407","heading":"Removal of unattended vehicles prohibited without authorization -- Penalties.","body":"(1) In cases not amounting to burglary or theft of a vehicle, a person may not remove an unattended vehicle without prior authorization of:\n(a) a peace officer;\n(b) a law enforcement agency;\n(c) a highway authority having jurisdiction over the highway on which there is an unattended vehicle; or\n(d) the owner or person in lawful possession or control of the real property.\n(2)\n(a) An authorization from a person specified under Subsection (1)(a), (b), or (c) shall be in a form specified by the Motor Vehicle Division.\n(b) The removal of the unattended vehicle shall comply with requirements of Section 41-6a-1406.\n(3) The removal of the unattended vehicle authorized under Subsection (1)(d) shall comply with the requirements of Section 72-9-603.\n(4) A person who violates Subsection (1) or (3) is guilty of an infraction.","path":["Title 41 Motor Vehicles","Chapter 41-6a Traffic Code","Part 41-6a-14 Stopping, Standing, and Parking"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title41/Chapter6a/41-6a-S1407.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"7bc65f258e413b76375c3f3a8c047154b5b5cd55248a1d4ac25e6d6851b95beb","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-41-6a-1406","next":"us-ut/utah-code-41-6a-1408"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
