{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-41-6a-1640","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 41-6a-1640","heading":"Air conditioning equipment -- Requirements.","body":"(1) As used in this section, \"air conditioning equipment\" means mechanical vapor compression refrigeration equipment used to cool the operator or passenger compartment of a motor vehicle.\n(2) Air conditioning equipment shall:\n(a) be manufactured, installed, and maintained with due regard for the safety of the occupants of the vehicle and the public; and\n(b) not contain any refrigerant which is toxic to persons or which is flammable.\n(3) A person may not have for sale, offer for sale, sell, or equip any motor vehicle with air conditioning equipment unless it complies with the specifications adopted under Section 41-6a-1601 and this section.\n(4) A person may not operate a motor vehicle on a highway if the motor vehicle is equipped with air conditioning equipment unless the air conditioning equipment complies with the specifications adopted under Section 41-6a-1601 and this section.","path":["Title 41 Motor Vehicles","Chapter 41-6a Traffic Code","Part 41-6a-16 Vehicle Equipment"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title41/Chapter6a/41-6a-S1640.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"60ee4bc754dd3ebbea69f5869632629609913c9ac03e5279a23daec47bf73dbf","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-41-6a-1639","next":"us-ut/utah-code-41-6a-1641"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
