{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-41-6a-209","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 41-6a-209","heading":"Obedience to peace officer or other traffic controllers -- Speeding in construction zones.","body":"(1) A person may not willfully fail or willfully refuse to comply with any lawful order or direction of a:\n(a) peace officer;\n(b) firefighter;\n(c) flagger at a highway construction or maintenance site using devices and procedures conforming to the standards adopted under Section 41-6a-301; or\n(d) uniformed adult school crossing guard invested by law with authority to direct, control, or regulate traffic.\n(2)\n(a) If a person commits a speeding violation in a highway construction or maintenance site where workers are present, the court shall impose a fine for the offense that is at least double the fine in the uniform recommended fine schedule established under Section 76-3-301.5.\n(b) The highway construction or maintenance site under Subsection (2)(a) shall be clearly marked and have signs posted that warn of the doubled fine.","path":["Title 41 Motor Vehicles","Chapter 41-6a Traffic Code","Part 41-6a-2 Applicability and Obedience to Traffic Laws"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title41/Chapter6a/41-6a-S209.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"589a77f490c7f349f06d19a474c7c0bf2013d3806dcfb21924d2e75e5f6e6f03","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-41-6a-208","next":"us-ut/utah-code-41-6a-210"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
