{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-41-6a-903.1","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 41-6a-903.1","heading":"Right-of-way -- Zipper merge.","body":"(1) As used in this section:\n(a) \"Merge point\" means the point at which two traffic lanes merge into one traffic lane.\n(b) \"Zipper method\" means a method of merging vehicles at a merge point that involves the operators of the merging vehicles:\n(i) using both lanes of traffic until the vehicles reach the merge point; and\n(ii) once the vehicles reach the merge point, alternating yielding the right-of-way into the single traffic lane.\n(2) An operator of a vehicle shall use the zipper method when merging at a congested merge point.\n(3) A violation of this section is an infraction.","path":["Title 41 Motor Vehicles","Chapter 41-6a Traffic Code","Part 41-6a-9 Right-of-Way"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title41/Chapter6a/41-6a-S903.1.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"2bac2625aaebe7c43fc0aa42c675986fb2d0ce57c82106b014172b1afcfd5ded","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-41-6a-903","next":"us-ut/utah-code-41-6a-904"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
