{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-46-1-14","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 46-1-14","heading":"Sunsetting provisions for entries in journal -- Required information.","body":"(1) This section applies only to a notary described in Subsection 46-1-13(1).\n(2) A notary may, for each notarial act the notary performs, and a remote notary shall, for each notarial act the remote notary performs remotely, record the following information in the journal described in Section 46-1-13 at the time of notarization:\n(a) the date and time of day of the notarial act;\n(b) the type of notarial act;\n(c) the type title, or a description of the document, electronic record, or proceeding that is the subject of the notarial act;\n(d) the signature and printed name and address of each individual for whom a notarial act is performed;\n(e) the evidence of identity of each individual for whom a notarial act is performed, in the form of:\n(i) a statement that the person is personally known to the notary;\n(ii) a description of the identification document and the identification document's issuing agency, serial or identification number, and date of issuance or expiration;\n(iii) the signature and printed name and address of a credible individual swearing or affirming to the person's identity; or\n(iv) if used for a remote notarization, a description of the secondary authentication of identity used for the remote notarization; and\n(f) the fee, if any, the notary charged for the notarial act.\n(3) A notary may record in the journal a description of the circumstances under which the notary refused to perform or complete a notarial act.\n(4) A remote notary shall include, for each electronic notarization recorded in the electronic journal, a copy of the electronic recording of the remote notarization.","path":["Title 46 Notarization and Authentication of Documents, Electronic Signatures, and Legal Material","Chapter 46-1 Notaries Public Reform Act"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title46/Chapter1/46-1-S14.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"833a76b7f829bee7bdb90e308bfcbad14964c3006da9ce013de213ca8476ecf1","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-46-1-13","next":"us-ut/utah-code-46-1-14.1"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
