{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-46-1-20","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 46-1-20","heading":"Change of name or address -- Bond policy rider.","body":"(1) Within 30 days after the day on which a notary changes the notary's name, the notary shall provide to the lieutenant governor:\n(a) the notary's new name, including official documentation of the name change; and\n(b) a bond policy rider that a notary obtains in accordance with Subsection (2).\n(2) To obtain a bond policy rider, the notary shall:\n(a) notify the surety for the notary's bond;\n(b) obtain a bond policy rider reflecting both the old and new name of the notary;\n(c) return the bond policy rider;\n(d) destroy the original commission; and\n(e) destroy the old official seal.\n(3) A notary is not required to change the notary's name by adopting the surname of the notary's spouse.\n(4) Within 30 days of the day on which a notary's residential or business address changes, the notary shall provide the notary's new residential or business address to the lieutenant governor.","path":["Title 46 Notarization and Authentication of Documents, Electronic Signatures, and Legal Material","Chapter 46-1 Notaries Public Reform Act"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title46/Chapter1/46-1-S20.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"00ac937263a14d25ec963424a98678577cfaabe4c8b51fb38e9e2543bb1670d7","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-46-1-19","next":"us-ut/utah-code-46-1-21"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
