{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-46-4-103","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 46-4-103","heading":"Scope.","body":"(1) Except as otherwise provided in Subsection (2), this chapter applies to electronic records and electronic signatures relating to a transaction.\n(2) This chapter does not apply to:\n(a) a transaction to the extent it is governed by a law governing the creation and execution of wills, codicils, or testamentary trusts;\n(b) Title 70A, Uniform Commercial Code, other than:\n(i) Section 70A-1a-306; and\n(ii) Title 70A, Chapter 2, Uniform Commercial Code - Sales, and Title 70A, Chapter 2a, Uniform Commercial Code - Leases.\n(3) This chapter applies to an electronic record or electronic signature otherwise excluded from the application of this chapter under Subsection (2) to the extent it is governed by a law other than those specified in Subsection (2).\n(4) A transaction subject to this chapter is also subject to other applicable substantive law.\n(5) Nothing in this chapter requires any county recorder to accept for recording any instrument in electronic form.","path":["Title 46 Notarization and Authentication of Documents, Electronic Signatures, and Legal Material","Chapter 46-4 Uniform Electronic Transactions Act","Part 46-4-1 Title, Interpretation, and Definitions"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title46/Chapter4/46-4-S103.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"5fc3654acc8cf744d01d32c33dbf52e1a6b1c3090652a1673fe91c3d26b9b31e","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-46-4-102","next":"us-ut/utah-code-46-4-104"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
