{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-49-16-701","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 49-16-701","heading":"Volunteer firefighters eligible for line-of-duty death and disability benefits in Division A -- Computation of benefit.","body":"(1) A volunteer firefighter is only eligible for line-of-duty death and line-of-duty disability benefits provided for firefighters enrolled in Division A, subject to Sections 49-16-602 and 49-16-603.\n(2) The lowest monthly compensation of firefighters of a city of the first class in this state at the time of death or disability shall be considered to be the final average monthly salary of a volunteer firefighter for purposes of computing these benefits.\n(3) Each volunteer fire department shall maintain a current roll of all volunteer firefighters that meet the requirements of Subsection 49-16-102(13) to determine eligibility for this benefit.","path":["Title 49 Utah State Retirement and Insurance Benefit Act","Chapter 49-16 Firefighters' Retirement Act","Part 49-16-7 Volunteer Firefighters"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title49/Chapter16/49-16-S701.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"fc8f55dc9a80b7f261c2894416a17b572a2893111559b07753f46b349305770e","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-49-16-603","next":"us-ut/utah-code-49-17-101"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
