{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-49-23-601","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 49-23-601","heading":"Long-term disability coverage.","body":"(1) A participating employer shall cover a public safety service employee who initially enters employment on or after July 1, 2011, under Chapter 21, Public Employees' Long-Term Disability Act, or a substantially similar long-term disability program.\n(2)\n(a) A participating employer shall cover a firefighter service employee who initially enters employment on or after July 1, 2011, under Chapter 21, Public Employees' Long-Term Disability Act.\n(b) In accordance with this section, a participating employer shall provide long-term disability benefit coverage for a volunteer firefighter as provided under Section 49-16-701.\n(c) The office shall ensure that the cost of the long-term disability benefit coverage provided under Subsections (2)(a) and (b) is funded with revenue received under Section 49-11-901.5.","path":["Title 49 Utah State Retirement and Insurance Benefit Act","Chapter 49-23 New Public Safety and Firefighter Tier II Contributory Retirement Act","Part 49-23-6 Disability Benefit"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title49/Chapter23/49-23-S601.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"f6509cabb2230377aaf38f2b6a764f51aa860f2cf3ebef99e8c2650c851edb44","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-49-23-505","next":"us-ut/utah-code-49-23-602"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
