{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-53-13-114","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 53-13-114","heading":"Off-duty peace officer working as a security officer.","body":"A peace officer may engage in off-duty employment as a security officer under Section 58-63-304 only if:\n(1) the law enforcement agency employing the peace officer:\n(a) has a written policy regarding peace officer employees working while off-duty as security officers; and\n(b) the policy under Subsection (1)(a) is:\n(i) posted and publicly available on the appropriate city, county, or state website; or\n(ii) posted on the Utah Public Notice Website created in Section 63A-16-601 if the law enforcement agency does not have access to a website under Subsection (1)(b)(i).\n(2) the agency's chief administrative officer, or that officer's designee, provides written authorization for an off-duty peace officer to work as a security officer; and\n(3) the business or entity employing the off-duty peace officer to work as a security officer complies with state and federal income reporting and withholding requirements regarding the off-duty officer's wages.","path":["Title 53 Public Safety Code","Chapter 53-13 Peace Officer Classifications"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title53/Chapter13/53-13-S114.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"692e8b567daa1a12c034c13567fd80cd6dcc7d37896863ff088b6388d9d523ed","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-53-13-113","next":"us-ut/utah-code-53-13-115"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
