{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-53-25-201","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 53-25-201","heading":"Sexual assault offense policy and public information requirements for law enforcement agencies.","body":"(1)\n(a) Beginning January 1, 2024, a law enforcement agency shall create and maintain a policy regarding the law enforcement agency's processes for handling sexual assault investigations.\n(b) A policy described under Subsection (1)(a) shall include current best practices for handling sexual assault investigations, including:\n(i) protocols and training on responses to sexual trauma;\n(ii) emergency response procedures, including prompt contact with the victim and the preservation of evidence; and\n(iii) referrals to sexual assault support services.\n(c) A law enforcement agency shall publicly post on the law enforcement agency's website the policy described in Subsection (1)(a).\n(2) Beginning January 1, 2024, a law enforcement agency shall create and publicly post on the law enforcement agency's website a guide for victims of sexual assault that includes:\n(a) a description of the law enforcement agency's processes for handling sexual assault investigations;\n(b) contact information for victims of sexual assault to obtain more information from the law enforcement agency; and\n(c) referral information for sexual assault victim support services.","path":["Title 53 Public Safety Code","Chapter 53-25 Law Enforcement Requirements","Part 53-25-2 Sexual assault offense policy and reporting requirements"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title53/Chapter25/53-25-S201.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"027b095449910b9d0e12c46ba1d14691fe153a1efe2787cf45b0c9ffcf1cb8fd","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-53-25-105","next":"us-ut/utah-code-53-25-202"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
