{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-53-25-802","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 53-25-802","heading":"Portable biometric capture method requirement.","body":"(1) Beginning January 1, 2028, a law enforcement agency shall ensure that every law enforcement officer who is on duty outside of the law enforcement agency's facility is supplied with a portable biometric capture device.\n(2)\n(a) A software vendor that allows a law enforcement agency to file a citation electronically as described in Section 77-7-20 shall ensure that the software vendor's software is capable of submitting biometric data captured by a portable biometric device electronically to the court's electronic filing interface.\n(b) A software vendor shall ensure that the connection described in Subsection (2)(a) is operational within one year of the criminal justice agency's system that uses the software service becoming active.\n(3) A software service is subject to Subsection (2) if the software service:\n(a) is for use by a criminal justice agency within the state's criminal justice system; and\n(b) collects and stores data required by statute to be reported to the department.","path":["Title 53 Public Safety Code","Chapter 53-25 Law Enforcement Requirements","Part 53-25-8 Law Enforcement Equipment Requirements"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title53/Chapter25/53-25-S802.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"70e16f4a705a23e663c6594b0174c152bd91aa002ce93c9db1377ae396eafaf2","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-53-25-801","next":"us-ut/utah-code-53-25-901"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
