{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-53-29-201","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 53-29-201","heading":"Definitions.","body":"As used in this part:\n(1) \"Court\" means a state, federal, or military court.\n(2) \"External jurisdiction\" means:\n(a) a state of the United States not including Utah;\n(b) the United States federal government;\n(c) Indian country;\n(d) a United States territory;\n(e) the United States military; or\n(f) Canada, Australia, New Zealand, or the United Kingdom.\n(3) \"Indian country\" means:\n(a) all land within the limits of an Indian reservation under the jurisdiction of the United States government, regardless of the issuance of any patent, and includes rights-of-way running through the reservation;\n(b) all dependent Indian communities within the borders of the United States whether within the original or subsequently acquired territory, and whether within the limits of a state; and\n(c) all Indian allotments, including the Indian allotments to which the Indian titles have not been extinguished, including rights-of-way running through the allotments.\n(4) \"Traffic offense\" does not include a violation of Title 41, Chapter 6a, Part 5, Driving Under the Influence and Reckless Driving.","path":["Title 53 Public Safety Code","Chapter 53-29 Sex, Kidnap, and Child Abuse Offender Registry","Part 53-29-2 Registrable Offenses, Timelines for Registration, and Petitions for Removal"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title53/Chapter29/53-29-S201.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"a417ab417eceb7520cc525f23d856fee926bb7490f020cea50fd29b0017ed3cc","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-53-29-102","next":"us-ut/utah-code-53-29-202"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
