{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-53-2d-303","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 53-2d-303","heading":"Department duties.","body":"In connection with the statewide trauma system established in Section 53-2d-301, the bureau shall:\n(1) establish a statewide trauma system plan that:\n(a) identifies statewide trauma care needs, objectives, and priorities;\n(b) identifies the equipment, facilities, personnel training, and other things necessary to create and maintain a statewide trauma system; and\n(c) organizes and coordinates trauma care within defined geographic areas;\n(2) support the statewide trauma system by:\n(a) facilitating the coordination of prehospital, acute care, and rehabilitation services and providers through state regulation and oversight;\n(b) facilitating the ongoing evaluation and refinement of the statewide trauma system;\n(c) providing educational programs;\n(d) encouraging cooperation between community organizations, health care facilities, public health officials, emergency medical service providers, and rehabilitation facilities for the development of a statewide trauma system;\n(e) implementing a quality assurance program using information from the statewide trauma registry established pursuant to Section 53-2d-304;\n(f) establishing trauma center designation requirements in accordance with Section 53-2d-305; and\n(g) developing standards so that:\n(i) trauma centers are categorized according to their capability to provide care;\n(ii) trauma victims are triaged at the initial point of patient contact; and\n(iii) trauma patients are sent to appropriate health care facilities.","path":["Title 53 Public Safety Code","Chapter 53-2d Emergency Medical Services Act","Part 53-2d-3 Statewide Trauma System"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title53/Chapter2d/53-2d-S303.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"a21d633faf59bbd345036078485c0ec45e498881e59d9483ac05f4c17d0ceef2","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-53-2d-301","next":"us-ut/utah-code-53-2d-304"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
