{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-53-2d-401","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 53-2d-401","heading":"General requirement.","body":"(1) Except as provided in Section 53-2d-408 or 53-2d-801:\n(a) an individual may not provide emergency medical services without a license or certification issued under Section 53-2d-402;\n(b) a facility or provider may not hold itself out as a designated emergency medical service provider or nonemergency secured behavioral health transport provider without a designation issued under Section 53-2d-403;\n(c) a vehicle may not operate as an ambulance, emergency response vehicle, or nonemergency secured behavioral health transport vehicle without a permit issued under Section 53-2d-404; and\n(d) an entity may not respond as an ambulance or paramedic provider without the appropriate license issued under Part 5, Ambulance and Paramedic Providers.\n(2) Section 53-2d-602 applies to violations of this section.","path":["Title 53 Public Safety Code","Chapter 53-2d Emergency Medical Services Act","Part 53-2d-4 Certificates, Designations, Permits, and Licenses"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title53/Chapter2d/53-2d-S401.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"fbc7a52de18f01b9d976b68c68d6f296cd7cb46d4ac2a76fb4826775b366a8dd","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-53-2d-305","next":"us-ut/utah-code-53-2d-402"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
