{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-53-2d-405","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 53-2d-405","heading":"Ambulance license required for emergency medical transport.","body":"Except as provided in Section 53-2d-408, only an ambulance operating under a permit issued under Section 53-2d-404 may transport an individual who:\n(1) is in an emergency medical condition;\n(2) is medically or mentally unstable, requiring direct medical observation during transport;\n(3) is physically incapacitated because of illness or injury and in need of immediate transport by emergency medical service personnel;\n(4) is likely to require medical attention during transport;\n(5) is being maintained on any type of emergency medical electronic monitoring;\n(6) is receiving or has recently received medications that could cause a sudden change in medical condition that might require emergency medical services;\n(7) requires IV administration or maintenance, oxygen that is not patient-operated, or other emergency medical services during transport;\n(8) needs to be immobilized during transport to a hospital, an emergency patient receiving facility, or mental health facility due to a mental or physical condition, unless the individual is in the custody of a peace officer and the primary purpose of the restraint is to prevent escape;\n(9) needs to be immobilized due to a fracture, possible fracture, or other medical condition; or\n(10) otherwise requires or has the potential to require a level of medical care that the bureau establishes as requiring direct medical observation.","path":["Title 53 Public Safety Code","Chapter 53-2d Emergency Medical Services Act","Part 53-2d-4 Certificates, Designations, Permits, and Licenses"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title53/Chapter2d/53-2d-S405.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"b6deddbe238fc29d2e0a86c4ad673e770203a6c1264e43ecc75f8ee50aae4e3c","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-53-2d-404","next":"us-ut/utah-code-53-2d-406"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
