{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-53-3-803","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 53-3-803","heading":"Application for identification card -- Age requirements -- Application on behalf of others.","body":"(1) A person at least 16 years old or older may apply to the division for an identification card.\n(2) A person younger than 16 years old may apply to the division for an identification card with the consent of the applicant's parent or guardian.\n(3)\n(a) If a person is unable to apply for the card due to his youth or incapacitation, the application may be made on behalf of that person by his parent or guardian.\n(b) A parent or guardian applying for an identification card on behalf of a child or incapacitated person shall provide:\n(i) identification, as required by the commissioner; and\n(ii) the consent of the incapacitated person, as required by the commissioner.\n(4) The division may not issue a Utah identification card or an extension of a regular identification card to a person who holds an unexpired Utah license certificate issued under Part 2, Driver Licensing Act unless:\n(a) the Utah license certificate is canceled; and\n(b) if the Utah license certificate is in the person's possession, the Utah license certificate is surrendered to the division.","path":["Title 53 Public Safety Code","Chapter 53-3 Uniform Driver License Act","Part 53-3-8 Identification Card Act"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title53/Chapter3/53-3-S803.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"a00dbc30ee7cf1b63fb746db3f83f75be5e2336f560fba2c7b6faa298dbffc47","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-53-3-802","next":"us-ut/utah-code-53-3-804"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
