{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-53e-3-523","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 53E-3-523","heading":"State board to review reporting requirements.","body":"(1) As used in this section, \"required report\" means a report that statute or state board rule requires an LEA or the state board to make.\n(2)\n(a) The state board shall work with LEAs to develop a process to review required reports.\n(b) The process described in Subsection (2)(a) shall include the following considerations for each required report:\n(i)\n(A) the required report's purpose; and\n(B) the report's effectiveness in accomplishing the report's purpose;\n(ii) which entity requires the required report;\n(iii) which entity created the report requirements;\n(iv) which entity or individual reviews the required report;\n(v) whether the information in the required report is otherwise available or could be obtained another way;\n(vi) whether the required report is the least burdensome way to collect the information in the required report;\n(vii) whether accountability or transparency could be achieved through a means other than the required report;\n(viii) whether and how the Utah Schools Information Management System affects the required report;\n(ix) the estimated time and cost required to complete the required report for:\n(A) an LEA; or\n(B) the state board; and\n(x) the amount of appropriated program funding available for program purposes after program money is expended for completing a required report for the program.\n(3) After reviewing required reports as described in Subsection (2), the state board may make recommendations for legislation to the Legislature.","path":["Title 53E Public Education System -- State Administration","Chapter 53E-3 State Board of Education Organization, Powers, and Duties","Part 53E-3-5 Miscellaneous Duties"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title53E/Chapter3/53E-3-S523.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"d5518c9ca1786117a5c4f8911b5944227364959e4469e89eae2faa0f6b4b813f","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-53e-3-522","next":"us-ut/utah-code-53e-3-524"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
