{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-53f-2-705","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 53F-2-705","heading":"Grants for charter school start-up costs.","body":"(1)\n(a) The State Charter School Board shall use money appropriated for charter school start-up costs to provide grants to charter schools to pay for expenses for the planning and implementation of a charter school.\n(b) The State Charter School Board:\n(i) may use up to 8% of the money appropriated for charter school start-up costs for financial monitoring of new charter schools and to provide professional development or technical assistance for charter school governing board members and staff of new charter schools; and\n(ii) in accordance with rules adopted by the state board, may use up to $200,000 of the money appropriated for charter school start-up costs for a mentoring program for new and existing charter schools.\n(2) The amount of a grant for charter school start-up costs shall be based on the authorized enrollment of the charter school.\n(3) The state board shall make rules consistent with this section specifying:\n(a) procedures for applying for and awarding grants for charter school start-up costs;\n(b) permitted uses of grant money; and\n(c) requirements for a charter school to submit the following to the State Charter School Board:\n(i) a budget for the grant money; and\n(ii) a final report on the expenditure of the grant money.\n(4) The state board shall make rules establishing a mentoring program for new and existing charter schools.","path":["Title 53F Public Education System -- Funding","Chapter 53F-2 State Funding -- Minimum School Program","Part 53F-2-7 Charter School Funding"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title53F/Chapter2/53F-2-S705.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"3f7ee2d2a2ba6ef18c7126b6c66308de255afa7c1d81db73b15b95b494226b67","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-53f-2-704","next":"us-ut/utah-code-53f-2-706"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
