{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-53f-5-503","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 53F-5-503","heading":"Planning grants -- Requirements.","body":"(1)\n(a) The state board shall, subject to legislative appropriations, award a planning grant to an LEA:\n(i) that submits a planning grant application that meets the requirements established by the state board, subject to Subsection (2);\n(ii) if an LEA designee has attended the technical assistance training described in Section 53F-5-502; and\n(iii) if the LEA planning grant application has been recommended by the review committee.\n(b) An LEA that receives a grant under Subsection (1)(a) shall expend the grant funds no later than one calendar year after receiving the funds.\n(2)\n(a) A planning grant application shall include evidence that the LEA:\n(i) can provide a general description of the program the LEA would like to plan;\n(ii) is intending to plan for:\n(A) schoolwide implementation; or\n(B) if the LEA intends to implement initially with a population smaller than schoolwide, phasing the plan in schoolwide or districtwide over a specified period of time;\n(iii) can describe the types of partners that will help with the plan and, eventually, implement the program;\n(iv) planning activities and program will focus on:\n(A) implementation of the core principles described in Section 53F-5-502;\n(B) use of the methods, as applicable, described in Section 53F-5-502; and\n(C) the outcome-based measures adopted by the state board under Section 53F-5-502;\n(v) has:\n(A) the capacity, qualifications, local governing body support, and time to successfully plan the program; and\n(B) an intentional and feasible planning process;\n(vi) will align the LEA's budget as necessary with the planning process; and\n(vii) will communicate and promote the plan with parents, teachers, and members of the community.\n(b) The state board may adopt other requirements in addition to the requirements in Subsection (2)(a).","path":["Title 53F Public Education System -- Funding","Chapter 53F-5 State Funding -- Initiative Grant Programs","Part 53F-5-5 Personalized, Competency-based Learning Grants Program"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title53F/Chapter5/53F-5-S503.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"3e282ad564cafedbd7f840df012ad1291ff6ff6bcd351cf5e2f75bbda9652f52","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-53f-5-502","next":"us-ut/utah-code-53f-5-504"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
