{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-53g-10-508","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 53G-10-508","heading":"Programs authorized -- Minimum standards.","body":"(1) A local education agency may:\n(a) allow a student to complete the classroom training portion of driver education through home study;\n(b) provide each parent with driver education instructional materials to assist in parent involvement with driver education including behind-the-wheel driving materials;\n(c) offer driver education outside of school hours in order to reduce the cost of providing driver education;\n(d) offer driver education through community education programs;\n(e) offer the classroom portion of driver education in the public schools and allow the student to complete the behind-the-wheel portion with a private provider:\n(i) licensed under Section 53-3-504; and\n(ii) not associated with the school or under contract with the school under Subsection 53G-10-503(3); or\n(f) any combination of Subsections (1)(a) through (e).\n(2) In accordance with Title 63G, Chapter 3, Utah Administrative Rulemaking Act, the state board shall establish in rule minimum standards for the school-related programs under Subsection (1).","path":["Title 53G Public Education System -- Local Administration","Chapter 53G-10 Curriculum Participation and Requirements","Part 53G-10-5 Driver Education Classes"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title53G/Chapter10/53G-10-S508.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"fc7d778844f8aafcebd93bf8a8b60ebb4cbe6e450b42bffc389af5b349535a54","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-53g-10-507","next":"us-ut/utah-code-53g-10-601"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
