{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-53g-7-1401","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 53G-7-1401","heading":"General provisions -- Definitions.","body":"As used in this part:\n(1) \"Artificial intelligence\" means the same as that term is defined in Section 13-72-101.\n(2) \"Artificial intelligence sandbox course\" or \"AI sandbox course\" means a high school course offered to a student enrolled in an LEA focused on artificial intelligence technologies that:\n(a) operates within a secure and controlled digital environment; and\n(b) provides a student with supervised opportunities to apply artificial intelligence technologies through hands-on:\n(i) learning;\n(ii) experimentation; and\n(iii) application of the instructional material.\n(3) \"Artificial intelligence tool\" or \"AI tool\" means software or a system that generates outputs, predictions, or recommendations through:\n(a) machine learning;\n(b) natural language processing; or\n(c) other artificial intelligence techniques.\n(4) \"Generative artificial intelligence\" means the same as that term is defined in Section 13-77-101.","path":["Title 53G Public Education System -- Local Administration","Chapter 53G-7 Public School General Requirements","Part 53G-7-14 Artificial Intelligence"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title53G/Chapter7/53G-7-S1401.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"54240eb5ea00bf466a612b59e467f5aa520f63a94e0f85301aef54618f185771","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-53g-7-1307","next":"us-ut/utah-code-53g-7-1402"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
