{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-53g-8-603","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 53G-8-603","heading":"Criminal trespass upon school property -- Penalty.","body":"(1) As used in this section:\n(a) \"Enter\" means intrusion of the entire body upon school property.\n(b) \"Remain unlawfully\" means that a person remains on property when the person is not licensed or privileged to remain on the property.\n(c)\n(i) \"School property\" means a school.\n(ii) \"School property\" does not mean LEA offices or any other property an LEA owns or controls that is not a school.\n(2) A person is guilty of criminal trespass upon school property if the person does the following:\n(a) enters or remains unlawfully upon school property, and:\n(i) intends to cause annoyance or injury to a person or damage to property on the school property;\n(ii) intends to commit a crime; or\n(iii) is reckless as to whether the person's presence will cause fear for the safety of another; or\n(b) enters or remains without authorization upon school property if notice against entry or remaining has been given by:\n(i) personal communication to the person by a school official or an individual with apparent authority to act for a school official;\n(ii) the posting of signs reasonably likely to come to the attention of trespassers;\n(iii) fencing or other enclosure obviously designed to exclude trespassers; or\n(iv) a current order of suspension or expulsion.\n(3) Violation of this section is a class B misdemeanor.","path":["Title 53G Public Education System -- Local Administration","Chapter 53G-8 Discipline and Safety","Part 53G-8-6 Criminal Offenses and Traffic Ordinances"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title53G/Chapter8/53G-8-S603.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"c9a7871775cdf9ff96dc988366f2652cdcaa73682649b61153b83248194d0b20","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-53g-8-602","next":"us-ut/utah-code-53g-8-604"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
