{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-53g-9-202","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 53G-9-202","heading":"Notification to the parent of an injured or sick child.","body":"(1) A public school shall notify the custodial parent and, if requested in writing by a noncustodial parent, make reasonable efforts to notify the noncustodial parent of a student who is injured or becomes ill at the school during the regular school day if:\n(a) the injury or illness requires treatment at a hospital, doctor's office, or other medical facility not located on the school premises; and\n(b) the school has received a current telephone number for the party it is required to notify or make reasonable efforts to notify.\n(2)\n(a) Subsection (1) does not apply to a noncustodial parent forbidden to have contact with the student under a court order or similar procedure.\n(b) The custodial parent is responsible for providing the school with the noncustodial parent's status under Subsection (2)(a) through a procedure adopted by the local school board.","path":["Title 53G Public Education System -- Local Administration","Chapter 53G-9 Health and Welfare","Part 53G-9-2 Miscellaneous Requirements"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title53G/Chapter9/53G-9-S202.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"2419c824e663b06d8dd1665400ec384bf21fe42c99720a5bb5828108e0a2ebae","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-53g-9-201","next":"us-ut/utah-code-53g-9-203"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
