{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-53g-9-901","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 53G-9-901","heading":"Definitions.","body":"As used in this part:\n(1) \"Authorized personnel\" means an individual:\n(a)\n(i) who holds a license:\n(A) as a school psychologist, as defined in Section 53F-5-218;\n(B) as a school social worker, as defined in Section 53F-5-218;\n(C) under Title 58, Chapter 61, Psychologist Licensing Act;\n(D) under Title 58, Chapter 60, Part 2, Social Worker Licensing Act;\n(E) under Title 58, Chapter 60, Part 3, Marriage and Family Therapist Licensing Act; or\n(F) under Title 58, Chapter 60, Part 4, Clinical Mental Health Counselor Licensing Act; or\n(ii) whom an individual described in Subsection (1)(a)(i) supervises, to the extent the individual's actions fall within the scope of the supervision; and\n(b) whom an LEA or school employs, engages by contract, or engages by agreement, to support students' mental health through a restricted service in accordance with the scope of the individual's license or certification described in Subsection (1)(a).\n(2)\n(a) \"Restricted service\" means a mental health service that takes place in a school setting.\n(b) \"Restricted service\" does not include:\n(i) describing basic stress-management strategies;\n(ii) informing students and parents of the availability of a restricted service; or\n(iii) engaging in generalized crisis response, which does not include one-on-one therapy, in accordance with the state board's or the LEA's crisis response protocols.","path":["Title 53G Public Education System -- Local Administration","Chapter 53G-9 Health and Welfare","Part 53G-9-9 Mental Health Services in Public Schools"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title53G/Chapter9/53G-9-S901.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"5fa447f9038b1b30cb1771905678f3944fe575294d82e7a255be936090797383","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-53g-9-804","next":"us-ut/utah-code-53g-9-902"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
