{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-53h-12-203","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 53H-12-203","heading":"Mailing of notice of default -- Contents of notice.","body":"(1) Upon default in payment of a student loan or an installment payment on a student loan, the entity responsible for collecting the loan may send a notice, by certified mail, to the borrower at the borrower's last known address.\n(2) The notice shall state the following:\n(a) the date and amount of the loan;\n(b) the balance of the loan;\n(c) the amount of delinquent installments and the dates the installments were due;\n(d) a demand for immediate payment of delinquent installments;\n(e) the right of the borrower to file a written response to the notice, to have a hearing, to be represented at the hearing, and to appeal any decision of the hearing examiner;\n(f) the time within which a written response must be filed; and\n(g) the power of the college, university, or board upon the failure of the borrower to respond or upon a decision of the hearing examiner adverse to the borrower, to obtain an order under this part and to execute upon income tax overpayments or refunds of the borrower.","path":["Title 53H Higher Education","Chapter 53H-12 Student Loan Collection","Part 53H-12-2 Collection of Student Loans"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title53H/Chapter12/53H-12-S203.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"529edf0db77b0b6553345327b2707e0e0a35544ddb6176dd8c65913f68fcf6e3","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-53h-12-202","next":"us-ut/utah-code-53h-12-204"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
