{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-53h-16-304","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 53H-16-304","heading":"Executive director appointment -- Duties and powers.","body":"(1) The commissioner shall appoint and determine compensation for an executive director for the institute.\n(2) The executive director shall:\n(a) manage the day-to-day operations of the institute and the Nucleus Fund;\n(b) execute the policies of the institute board;\n(c) oversee the investment and expenditure of funds;\n(d) oversee qualified investments made by the Nucleus Fund;\n(e) assess reasonable fees for management of assets in the Nucleus Fund for reasonable costs of the Nucleus Fund;\n(f) consult with the institute board regarding policies and direction of the institute;\n(g) prepare an operating budget for the institute and submit the operating budget to the Utah Board of Higher Education for approval;\n(h) adopt a budget submitted by the chair of the investment committee;\n(i) establish job descriptions and, within budgetary constraints, employ staff necessary to accomplish the purposes of the institute and the Nucleus Fund; and\n(j) execute other duties as assigned by the institute board.\n(3) The executive director may:\n(a) hire and supervise necessary staff for the institute;\n(b) manage contracts and collaborations with consultants; and\n(c) enter into contracts on behalf of the institute.","path":["Title 53H Higher Education","Chapter 53H-16 Nucleus Institute","Part 53H-16-3 Nucleus Institute Governance"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title53H/Chapter16/53H-16-S304.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"acda0a09e634a6da2688b03566b474e8934a3e9cb107a6ccbe57353c50bb46af","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-53h-16-303","next":"us-ut/utah-code-53h-16-401"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
