{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-53h-7-1001","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 53H-7-1001","heading":"General provisions -- Definitions.","body":"As used in this part:\n(1) \"Educational data\" means a student's:\n(a) transcript data;\n(b) enrollment information;\n(c) course history; and\n(d) academic credentials.\n(2) \"Informed consent\" means voluntary, affirmative, written authorization complying with the requirements of 34 C.F.R. Sec. 99.30 that a student provides after the individual is presented, in a clear manner, with sufficient information to reasonably understand:\n(a) the educational data that is subject to access or disclosure;\n(b) the purpose of the disclosure of the educational data;\n(c) the recipient of the educational data disclosure;\n(d) that the student has the right to revoke consent of disclosure of the educational data at any time;\n(e) the scope and duration of the authorization to disclose the educational data; and\n(f) whether consent is a condition of the student's participation in any educational program or activity.","path":["Title 53H Higher Education","Chapter 53H-7 Students' Rights and Responsibilities","Part 53H-7-10 Student Data"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title53H/Chapter7/53H-7-S1001.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"a845bf2b037cc77655888351c9608ab58cf2c0d198f3dc3ca897913dadbf23d7","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-53h-7-903","next":"us-ut/utah-code-53h-7-1002"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
