{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-54-15-601","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 54-15-601","heading":"Portable solar generation device -- Exemptions -- Requirements.","body":"(1) A portable solar generation device that meets the requirements of this part:\n(a) is exempt from:\n(i) the interconnection requirements described in Section 54-15-106; and\n(ii) requirements to enter into an interconnection agreement under Section 54-15-103; and\n(b) is not subject to the net metering program requirements under this chapter.\n(2) A portable solar generation device shall include a device or feature that prevents the system from energizing the building's electrical system during a power outage.\n(3) An electrical corporation:\n(a) may not require a customer using a portable solar generation device to:\n(i) obtain the electrical corporation's approval before installing or using the system;\n(ii) pay any fee or charge related to the system; or\n(iii) install any additional controls or equipment beyond what is integrated into the system; and\n(b) is not liable for any damage or injury caused by a portable solar generation device.","path":["Title 54 Public Utilities","Chapter 54-15 Net Metering of Electricity","Part 54-15-6 Portable Solar Generation Device"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title54/Chapter15/54-15-S601.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"0c2b57c8aa82be645a010dd11409a1d87a76d642a8b77c3b7dd2feb6ffa7e21d","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-54-15-108","next":"us-ut/utah-code-54-17-101"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
