{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-54-18-102","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 54-18-102","heading":"Definitions.","body":"As used in this chapter:\n(1) \"Affected entity\" means the same as that term is defined in Sections 10-20-102 and 17-79-102.\n(2) \"Affected landowner\" means an owner of a property interest, as reflected in the most recent county or city tax records as receiving a property tax notice, whose property is located within a proposed corridor.\n(3)\n(a) \"Construction\" means the excavation, construction, and installation of a high voltage electric power line or upgraded high voltage transmission line.\n(b) \"Construction\" does not include:\n(i) the temporary use of sites; or\n(ii) studies and tests for:\n(A) requirements of this chapter;\n(B) state regulations;\n(C) federal regulations;\n(D) securing geological and survey data; or\n(E) any other actions taken by a public utility reasonably necessary to determine the location of a target study area or proposed corridor.\n(4) \"High voltage power line\" means:\n(a) an electrical high voltage power line with a nominal voltage of 230 kilovolts or more; and\n(b) an upgraded high voltage power line.\n(5) \"Land use application\" has the same meaning as provided in Sections 10-20-102 and 17-79-102.\n(6) \"Land use authority\" has the same meaning as provided in Sections 10-20-102 and 17-79-102.\n(7) \"Land use permit\" has the same meaning as Sections 10-20-102 and 17-79-102.\n(8) \"Legislative body\" has the same meaning as provided in Sections 10-20-102 and 17-79-102.\n(9) \"Proposed corridor\" means the transmission line route within a target study area selected by the public utility as the public utility's proposed alignment for a high voltage power line.\n(10) \"Proposed route\" means the right-of-way needed for construction of the high voltage power line.\n(11) \"Public utility\" has the same meaning as provided in Section 54-2-1.\n(12) \"Target study area\" means the geographic area for a new high voltage transmission line or an upgraded high voltage power line as proposed by a public utility.\n(13) \"Upgraded high voltage power line\" means increasing the voltage of an existing transmission line to 230 kilovolts or more.","path":["Title 54 Public Utilities","Chapter 54-18 Siting of High Voltage Power Line Act","Part 54-18-1 General Provisions"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title54/Chapter18/54-18-S102.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"a5ec5c75b31311b403725dd5b20e3692276c61eb9336e762aa5a631d2593d5d6","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-54-18-101","next":"us-ut/utah-code-54-18-201"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
