{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-54-18-201","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 54-18-201","heading":"Public utility to obtain approval for high voltage power lines.","body":"(1) Except as provided in Subsections (2) and (3), a public utility shall comply with the requirements of this chapter before beginning construction or operation of:\n(a) a high voltage power line; or\n(b) an upgraded high voltage power line.\n(2) A public utility is not subject to the provisions of this chapter if the public utility has on or before May 12, 2009:\n(a) filed an application for or obtained a certificate of convenience and necessity for a high voltage power line in accordance with the provisions of Section 54-4-25; or\n(b) has initiated the acquisition of right-of-way for the construction of the high voltage transmission line.\n(3) A transmission line that is subject to federal permitting is not subject to the provisions of this chapter.","path":["Title 54 Public Utilities","Chapter 54-18 Siting of High Voltage Power Line Act","Part 54-18-2 Public Utility Duties for High Voltage Power Lines"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title54/Chapter18/54-18-S201.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"9f5730c546ef1154b5ee981ff4a4beb218753658f619e1bb049286a66bccdde8","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-54-18-102","next":"us-ut/utah-code-54-18-301"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
