{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-54-26-401","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 54-26-401","heading":"Qualified electric utility service obligations.","body":"(1) Subject to Subsection (2), a qualified electric utility has the sole right to provide electric service to a large load customer in the qualified electric utility's service territory.\n(2) A qualified electric utility:\n(a) is not required to provide electric service:\n(i) in response to a large-scale service request if:\n(A) the large load customer has not complied with the requirements of this chapter;\n(B) the qualified electric utility cannot provide the requested service within the timeframe required by the large-scale service request;\n(C) the large load customer and the qualified electric utility cannot agree upon terms for a large load contract;\n(D) the large load customer fails or refuses to comply with the requirements of a large load contract; or\n(E) the large load customer is receiving service from a large-scale generation provider in accordance with Section 54-26-402; or\n(ii) to a large load customer that receives service pursuant to a private generation contract; and\n(b) that does not agree to terms with a large load customer for a large load contract:\n(i) has no right or duty to serve the large load customer;\n(ii) is not required to provide ancillary or backup services to the large load customer; and\n(iii) is not required to provide any services to a large-scale generation provider.","path":["Title 54 Public Utilities","Chapter 54-26 Large-Scale Electric Service Requirements","Part 54-26-4 Service Provider Obligations"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title54/Chapter26/54-26-S401.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"e1f451bd3bb989962e1e62129176ec331ace8e159a79902d4ad0123801040899","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-54-26-302","next":"us-ut/utah-code-54-26-402"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
