{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-56-1-15","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 56-1-15","heading":"Fire caused by railroad operations.","body":"(1) As used in this section:\n(a) \"Railroad operation\" means an operation conducted:\n(i) by a railroad:\n(A) owner;\n(B) operator;\n(C) contractor; or\n(D) lessee; and\n(ii) on a rail line.\n(b) \"Railroad operation\" includes an operation of a train, a construction operation, or a maintenance operation.\n(2) In an action for damages that result from a fire caused by a railroad operation, proof that the fire occurred and was caused by a railroad operation is prima facie evidence of negligence on the part of the person who conducted the railroad operation.","path":["Title 56 Railroads","Chapter 56-1 General Provisions"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title56/Chapter1/56-1-S15.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"2c69d0a6fb170ae8b439dbf9753c00d58ae60ebcc34962c56d302273f0a146fe","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-56-1-14","next":"us-ut/utah-code-56-1-16"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
