{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-58-11a-306","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 58-11a-306","heading":"Apprenticeship.","body":"(1)\n(a) An approved apprenticeship shall be conducted by a supervisor who:\n(i) is licensed under this chapter as an instructor in the discipline of the apprenticeship; and\n(ii) provides one-on-one direct supervision of the apprentice during the apprenticeship program.\n(b) An apprenticeship supervisor may not provide direct supervision to more than two apprentices during the apprenticeship program.\n(2) An individual seeking a license or permit through an approved apprenticeship under this chapter shall:\n(a) register with the division before beginning the training requirements by:\n(i) submitting a form prescribed by the division, which includes the name of the licensed instructor supervisor; and\n(ii) paying a fee determined by the division under Section 63J-1-504;\n(b) complete the apprenticeship within two years of the date on which the division approves the registration; and\n(c) notify the division within 30 days if the licensed instructor supervisor changes after the registration is approved by the division.\n(3) An individual seeking a license or permit through an approved apprenticeship under this chapter shall complete a minimum of:\n(a) 1,250 apprenticeship hours for a cosmetology license;\n(b) 1,200 apprenticeship hours for a master esthetics license;\n(c) 1,000 apprenticeship hours for:\n(i) a master barber license; or\n(ii) a master hair design license;\n(d) 600 apprenticeship hours for an electrology license;\n(e) 300 apprenticeship hours for a nail technology license;\n(f) 270 apprenticeship hours for an eyelash and eyebrow technology license;\n(g) 260 apprenticeship hours for a chemical hair services permit;\n(h) 200 apprenticeship hours for a basic esthetics permit;\n(i) 150 apprenticeship hours for a haircutting permit;\n(j) 130 apprenticeship hours for a barbering permit; or\n(k) 50 apprenticeship hours for a facial hair removal permit.","path":["Title 58 Occupations and Professions","Chapter 58-11a Cosmetology and Associated Professions Licensing Act","Part 58-11a-3 Licensing"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title58/Chapter11a/58-11a-S306.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"3287cd2ec42d8ca98491b542bf4d79a27b2d6671dfedbe30ce81ced29bb80de4","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-58-11a-305","next":"us-ut/utah-code-58-11a-401"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
