{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-58-76-302","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 58-76-302","heading":"Qualifications for licensure.","body":"Each applicant for licensure as a professional geologist shall:\n(1) submit an application in a form as approved by the division;\n(2) pay a fee as determined by the department under Section 63J-1-504;\n(3) provide satisfactory evidence of:\n(a) at a minimum, a bachelor's degree in the geosciences with a minimum of 30 semester or 45 quarter hours of course work in the geosciences; or\n(b) completion of other equivalent educational requirements as determined by the division in collaboration with the board;\n(4) provide satisfactory evidence of:\n(a) with a bachelor's degree, a specific record of five years of active professional practice in geological work of a character satisfactory to the division, indicating the applicant is competent to be placed in a responsible charge of the work;\n(b) with a masters degree, a specific record of three years of active professional practice in geological work of a character satisfactory to the division, indicating the applicant is competent to be placed in a responsible charge of the work; or\n(c) with a doctorate degree, a specific record of one year of active professional practice in geological work of a character satisfactory to the division, indicating the applicant is competent to be placed in a responsible charge of the work; and\n(5) meet the examination requirement established by rule by the division in collaboration with the board.","path":["Title 58 Occupations and Professions","Chapter 58-76 Professional Geologist Licensing Act","Part 58-76-3 Licensing"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title58/Chapter76/58-76-S302.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"4784effee930cce663b15257dcb1ad92addf567bddee334af66e3284781c3760","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-58-76-301","next":"us-ut/utah-code-58-76-303"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
