{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-58-76-603","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 58-76-603","heading":"Seal -- Authorized use.","body":"A professional geologist may only affix the licensee's seal to a geologic map, cross-section, sketch, drawing, plan, or report if the geologic map, cross-section, sketch, drawing, plan, or report:\n(1) was personally prepared by the licensee;\n(2) was prepared by an employee, subordinate, associate, or drafter under the supervision of a licensee, provided the licensee or a principal affixing the seal assumes responsibility;\n(3) was prepared by a licensed professional geologist in this state or any other state provided:\n(a) the licensee in this state affixing the seal performs a thorough review of all work for compliance with all applicable laws and rules and the standards of the profession; and\n(b) makes any necessary corrections before submitting the final plan, specification, or report:\n(i) to a public authority; or\n(ii) to a client who has contracted with a professional geologist for the geologic map, cross-section, or report to be complete and final;\n(4) was prepared in part by a licensed professional geologist in this state or any other state provided:\n(a) the licensee in this state clearly identifies that portion of the geologic map, cross-section, or report for which the licensee is responsible;\n(b) the licensee in this state affixing the seal performs a thorough review of that portion of the geologic map, cross-section, or report for which the licensee is responsible for compliance with the standards of the profession; and\n(c) makes any necessary corrections before submitting the final geologic map, cross-section, or report for which the licensee is responsible:\n(i) to a public authority; or\n(ii) to a client who has contracted with a professional geologist for the geologic map, cross-section, or report to be complete and final;\n(5) was prepared by a person exempt from licensure as a professional geologist provided that:\n(a) the licensee in this state affixing the seal performs a thorough review for compliance with all applicable laws and rules and the standards of the profession; and\n(b) makes any necessary corrections before submitting the final geologic map, cross-section, or report:\n(i) to a public authority; or\n(ii) to a client who has contracted with a professional geologist for the geologic map, cross-section, or report to be complete and final; or\n(6) meets any additional requirements the division makes by rule in accordance with Title 63G, Chapter 3, Utah Administrative Rulemaking Act, and in collaboration with the board.","path":["Title 58 Occupations and Professions","Chapter 58-76 Professional Geologist Licensing Act","Part 58-76-6 Practice Standards"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title58/Chapter76/58-76-S603.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"3aeb9cf4a774373ad5c96e5453b0bd0042647f0f0d5a4c656bb853a228c2c328","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-58-76-602","next":"us-ut/utah-code-58-77-101"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
