{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-63a-17-603","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 63A-17-603","heading":"Discriminatory/prohibited employment practices grievances -- Procedures.","body":"(1) An applicant for a position in state government, a probationary employee, career service employee, or an exempt employee who alleges a discriminatory or prohibited employment practice as defined in Section 34A-5-106 may submit a written grievance to the department head where the alleged unlawful act occurred.\n(2) Within 10 working days after a written grievance is submitted under Subsection (1), the department head shall issue a written response to the grievance stating his decision and the reasons for the decision.\n(3) If the department head does not issue a decision within 10 days, or if the grievant is dissatisfied with the decision, the grievant may submit a complaint to the Division of Antidiscrimination and Labor, pursuant to Section 34A-5-107.","path":["Title 63A Utah Government Operations Code","Chapter 63A-17 Utah State Personnel Management Act","Part 63A-17-6 Grievance Provisions"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title63A/Chapter17/63A-17-S603.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"9923c3ea7102f73484c666b0dd5c787720ccb734b6bad91481c5fcda7f381e6f","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-63a-17-602","next":"us-ut/utah-code-63a-17-701"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
