{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-63a-17-701","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 63A-17-701","heading":"Definitions.","body":"In addition to the definitions found in Section 63A-17-102, as used in this part:\n(1)\n(a) \"Administrative law judge\" means an individual who is employed or contracted by a state agency who:\n(i) presides over or conducts formal administrative hearings on behalf of an agency;\n(ii) has the power to administer oaths, rule on the admissibility of evidence, take testimony, evaluate evidence, and make determinations of fact; and\n(iii) issues written orders, rulings, or final decisions on behalf of an agency.\n(b) \"Administrative law judge\" does not mean:\n(i) an individual who reviews an order or ruling of an administrative law judge; or\n(ii) the executive director of a state agency.\n(2) \"Committee\" means the Administrative Law Judge Conduct Committee created in Section 63A-17-708.","path":["Title 63A Utah Government Operations Code","Chapter 63A-17 Utah State Personnel Management Act","Part 63A-17-7 Administrative Law Judges"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title63A/Chapter17/63A-17-S701.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"38b7b0519102543d8639e15cf51a283979688758991386dfa86da58db47cdae4","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-63a-17-603","next":"us-ut/utah-code-63a-17-702"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
