{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-63c-30-202","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 63C-30-202","heading":"Duties of the board -- Reporting.","body":"(1) The board shall:\n(a) subject to Subsection (2), make rules that establish statewide standards for county recorders as the board deems necessary to reduce or eliminate inconsistencies, including rules for:\n(i) the protection of recorded documents and records in a county recorder's custody, including appropriate methods for obtaining copies of a public record under Section 17-71-405, and the supervision of individuals who search and make copies of the public record;\n(ii) the electronic submission of plats, records, and other documents to a county recorder's office;\n(iii) the protection of privacy interests in the case of documents and records in a county recorder's custody; and\n(iv) the formatting, recording, and redaction of documents and records in a county recorder's custody; and\n(b) promote uniformity throughout the state with respect to the services provided by a county recorder.\n(2)\n(a) The rules under Subsection (1)(a) shall:\n(i) be made in accordance with Title 63G, Chapter 3, Utah Administrative Rulemaking Act; and\n(ii) be consistent with applicable state law, including:\n(A) Title 17, Chapter 71, County Recorder;\n(B) Title 46, Chapter 4, Uniform Electronic Transactions Act; and\n(C) Title 57, Real Estate.\n(b) The rules under Subsection (1)(a) may not require a county recorder to expend any additional funds.\n(3) On or before October 1 of each year, the board shall submit a written report to the Political Subdivisions Interim Committee and the Business and Labor Interim Committee that includes:\n(a) information regarding the operations and activities of the board; and\n(b) any recommendations for legislation related to the services provided by county recorders, including recommendations for modification of the fees established in Section 17-71-407.","path":["Title 63C State Commissions and Councils Code","Chapter 63C-30 County Recorder Standards Board","Part 63C-30-2 County Recorder Standards Board"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title63C/Chapter30/63C-30-S202.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"386b93f807f4e069212727db215fb2029896d031c48ed75afb4621c1a183981c","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-63c-30-201","next":"us-ut/utah-code-63c-31-101"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
